                                          The only key
 'Love', a word used by people to escape from reality. So useless in the physical and mental development of the feeble human mind. If love was real, why would there still be wars? Why
would people strife for happiness? In other words, Love is just a nuisance.' He thought to himself as he was pacing under the the brilliant sun rays, in the dew of morning, towards his school. His name is Lye. While he paced along the street, witnessed he did of a couple sharing a kiss out in the open. 'Idiots' he thought to himself. 'Why long for something that wouldn't even last' he continued. He had an outrageous hate for love, for it was love that betrayed him. He closed his heart from everyone. When younger, he was left in the dark by his family during a divorce. He was away from home due to his academic studies, and during that time, 'Divorce' hits his family. His elder brother was taken away by his mother and his younger sister by the father. At time of arrival  to home, he was left alone. He was forgotten. He cried, but nothing changed. He closed his heart and locked it with a key that can't be found anymore. But, all is not bad, he was taken by his grandparents, yet his locked heart can't be opened anymore.

    He reached his class and was welcomed by awkward smiles. His IQ is high, no doubt. With closed heart, all he ever thought of was his academic activities. Without paying heed to such eyes, he reached his seat near the window just to feel the breeze. This is peace, he mumbled. However his peaceful moments were destroyed by a person with high energy. A girl, with eyes shining with illumination of a million stars, hair, short but filled with life as it sways from left to right in golden yellow, lips,red as a ripen strawberry, but a nature of a playful monkey.She jumps straight to him and give a heavy blow on his back, 'A fine morning young lad!' She shouted. 'Stop doing that every time in the morning!' Lye retorted. Yes, this is how his days had been. Always pestered by this girl called June. Yet, deep in his hearts he knew that it was due to this girl that his painful life seems to subside a little.

The sun stands high at noon and it was time for his lunch. He decided to return to his humble abode, i.e, the P.E storeroom, yet, he was followed again by June. He clicked his tongue but let her join in. He normally accepts her  but, he loses his cool when she started to give empathy. She often starts with 'I am here for you if you need me'. Then Lye loses it when she continues to give her sympathy. He hates her though he really didn't. He hated her because she was happy, because she could laugh and always talks about the love he hated so much. In most days he could listen it away, but this day, she dare to mention the love of parents. He stood up and shouted by pointing his finger directly to her eyes 'Stop talking to me like you knew everything about me! Didn't i tell you before? Love is dead! There is no love! And stop trying to talk me into love! Stay away from me!'. There was silence in the air. Tears started rolling down June's eyes, she too had secrets she didn't want mentioned.

She left him with a word,'I'm sorry for being a bother'. Lye didn't stop her, he knew he had said too much but, he didn't. The next day, June was absent, and the following day she did too, a week passed yet she wasn't in school. Lye started to worry and began asking a few classmates. Nobody knew why. And they moved along without the slightest care. Then, he realized. She was always alone. Unlike, him who could've made friends if he tried, she didn't have friends to begin with. He bit his lips and clenched his fists.

He ran out of class and decided to find a way to contact her. Lye finally gets a hold of her address. Calling her cellphone was a no-go, It was out of service, it said. He decided to reach her
home. He finally reached her home after a long run and what he sees surprised him. The house was on the verge of being taken down, it was written. All the family except a girl were dead.

He heard it from the teachers that she lived alone, but he didn't know such information that she really lived alone. He gave a knock to the door. No one answered. He called her name, no one answered. He pushed the door a bit, the door was opened. Lye entered with caution and moved around the almost empty house and he sees her. He finally saw her. She was sleeping on her stomach, not moving a muscle on the floor, all alone. Lye, rushed like a boar and hold her in his arms and checked her pulse. She was barely alive. He then realized from her composure that she skipped her food for  quite a few days. He hugged her tightly and cried 'I'm sorry!' a number of times with every tear at a cost.

June was taken to a nearby hospital. She was taken to the ICU. When the doctor returns from the room, Lye inquires if she's going to be fine. The doctor gave a grim face and said, 'she might be in a critical state but i assure you, we will do our very best'. Lye faced down in pain and agony. From the information given to him, she was working several part-time jobs to suffice her fees and her lively needs, and when he saw her on the ground, he knew that stress, fatigue, due to lack of food attacked her. Lye realized that she faced depression due to his words, her only safe haven,himself denied her. He faced down in shame and blamed himself.

After 23 hours of waiting, she awoken. Lye with eye-bags was informed of her. He rushed to her side and hold her hands firmly. I'm sorry, he repeated a thousand times. June opened her eyes slowly and called out his name. She smiled at him and told him,'It's okay, love is painful, yet it gives you hope and happiness, I love you', Lye was stunned by the sudden confession and also more due to that she slowly closed her eyes and breathes lesser. Lye was getting pale, he thought,'Is love betraying me again? When and why did i fall in love? Ah, yes, from the very beginning i was already in love with her'. The doctors arrived and checked on her with full attention on her. Lye shouted,'Don't you leave me! Don't you dare leave me! You are more annoying than a monkey! You should have enough strength to pull through that! Open your damn eyes! Punch me! Kick me! You can do whatever you  to me! So.... sniff.. please.... please......D-Don't you dare leave me! I love you! I love you Jane!' For a short moment as he left the ICU room, he caught a glimpse of her tears and her smile slowly fading away. He cried! The madman cried all his pain out! He screamed like he did when he was left by his family.............. Love left him again....

       So, why is daddy always making an angry face when he was young?
       That's because he was trying to be cool, to make me like him.
      Stop telling her stupid things.
      Oh, you're back! That's early... Did you come back early because you missed me?
      Like heck I did. Come on move along, we're going to be late.
      Lye come on, i was just joking......
      Hmm.... yea i missed you Jane... Are you happy now?
      Ehehehe.... yes!
       Let's go mom, dad!
       Sure.
       Yes!
       The key to his heart was the same love that he thought betrayed him.
